heat seeking creature by Lillian Haynes

If someday you were to ever read this,

i would kiss you carefully with my words,

And hope you would find me, like a bee to hive,

In these in-between moments of uncertainty

And if you ever read this, please, i beg you,

To know that i have loved you,

Completely, without fear, in constant adoration,

That my future rises and sets in your eyes,

And that the last thing i will ever have,

Is the way you looked at me this morning,

Half-lying, softly imploring me to stay,

And so i curled up next to you,

Like a cat with her favorite human,

Or perhaps a snake in fear of losing

its only source of heat,
