Staff Writing Team

Responsibilities:

  • Meet weekly and edit each other’s prose and poetry, which can then appear on the Eckleburg Project website and in the printed journal.

  • Work together to make the best version of their work and enhance their revision skills in a group setting.

  • Best for dedicated writers who are looking to further their writing and editing abilities and get published at the same time.

Design Team

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the the layout and design of the journal.

  • Design frequent web advertisements for social media.

  • Filter through art submissions to help determine the final selections for the journal, with the final decision falling on the Head Designer, as well as designing collateral that embodies The Eckleburg Project’s brand.

  • Work closely with the Head Designer to ensure that designs for Eckleburg remain consistent across all mediums. 

Preferences:

Preference will be given to designers with graphic design experience, a working knowledge and access to the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop), and an online portfolio with an emphasis in design. Being a designer for The Eckleburg Project above all means that you are a team player. Much of the design process will take place at weekly meetings, where we deliberate how to define ourselves as a journal. If you are willing to voice your opinion and work well with creative criticism, you will do well in this position. The Design Team is perfect for those who want to expand and further develop their graphic design skills.

Marketing Team

Responsibilities:

  • Managing all external communications of the journal.

  • In collaboration with the Publicist, the team oversees all social media marketing and campus advertising.

  • Create content for social media, design campus fliers, and assist in event planning (such as tabling sessions, socials, the Release Party, and any other events)

Preferences:

Preference will be given to applicants with basic experience in graphic design and photography. The Marketing Team is perfect for individuals interested in gaining further experience in marketing and communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort through and select poetry and prose submissions to the journal;

  • Read student poetry and prose and work together to make their selections for publication.

  • Best suited for those who love reading and writing, and may hope to work in publishing one day.
